Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Most of us finish Ramadan the same way we started. That's not what this month was designed for.
DAY 2
You were created for this
The Ayah
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me."
[Adh-Dhariyat, 51:56]
This Ayah In Your Life
You were created to worship Allah. Not just in salah — in everything. Providing for your family is worship. Smiling at your brother is worship. Biting your tongue is worship. And Allah tests you with pain and pleasure to see if you mean it. When life breaks you, do you turn to Him? When He gives you everything, do you forget Him?
What The Salaf Said
"Worship is built upon tawheed. Every act of worship that has no tawheed in it is not worship. Especially since some of the salaf interpreted His saying 'except to worship Me' as: except to single Me out in worship (to make tawheed of Me)."
Action
Pick one worldly task today — work, cooking, driving, a conversation — and turn it into worship through intention. Even sleep can be ibadah: "I'm resting so I can wake up and serve better."
Reflect
When life gets hard, do you turn to Him — or away from Him? What about when life gets good?
AR-RAHMAN, AR-RAHIM
The Most Merciful, The Most Compassionate
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُصَلِّى عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتُهُۥ لِيُخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ ۚ وَكَانَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًۭا
"It is He who confers blessing upon you, and His angels [ask Him to do so] that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful."
[Al-Ahzab, 33:43]
The Meaning
Ar-Rahman: His mercy encompasses everything and everyone - believer and disbeliever, human and animal, the obedient and the sinner
Ar-Rahim: His special mercy reserved for the believers - a mercy that brings them closer to Him and leads them to Paradise
These are the two names that begin 113 out of 114 surahs in the Quran - a reminder that His mercy comes before everything else
Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim In Your Life
You woke up today with another chance to turn back to Him - His mercy gave you this morning when you didn't earn it
The air filling your lungs, the food on your table, the people who love you - all gifts from His endless mercy, not rewards for your goodness
Every time you felt regret after a mistake - that feeling itself is His mercy pulling you back to Him
How You Live Differently
Stop believing you're too far gone - Ar-Rahman's mercy reaches further than your worst mistake ever could
Show mercy to others the way He shows mercy to you - forgive quickly, overlook faults, give people room to grow
When you're about to judge someone harshly, remember: if Allah treated you the way you treat others, where would you be?
